State of the Swan
- In this blog post, Creighton looks back at 2010/11 and talks about his plans for 2011/12.
Raging Swan is:
a small UK-based roleplaying game publisher located in South Devon. Raging Swan specialises in producing products for the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game system owned by Paizo LLC.. Reducing or removing entry barriers, simplifying pre-game prep and easing the GM's workload are the key underpinning principles of Raging Swan Press products.
What makes Raging Swan’s products special?
All of Raging Swan’s products are designed with the goal of reducing a GM’s prep time without compromising the quality of the adventure. In my experience, it doesn’t matter how great a module is; if it is badly organised or laid out a lot of GM’s won’t have the time to prepare it properly and as a consequence play quality suffers.
Who is behind Raging Swan?
I am, Creighton Broadhurst.
What’s with the name Raging Swan?
Two reasons: when I was managing bars, I had a friend who used to liken his company to a swan. Seemingly it sailed along serenely without a care in the world. In reality, underwater it was paddling like ****! I liked the imagery and so I plumped for “Raging Swan.” Also, my family crest features a swan so it seemed a natural fit.
You support Pathfinder, why not 4e?
Both Pathfinder and 4e are excellent systems, but the GSL is too restrictive to enable Raging Swan to produce compatible products.
You support Pathfinder, why not d20?
D20 has been around for a decade and much of the vast amount of the material produced is still readily available. Pathfinder is a new product with new exciting possibilities. Plus, I’m playing a lot of Pathfinder at the moment.
Are you looking for submissions?
Not currently; I’m doing this for fun and the joy in creation. I’m always on the lookout for good artists, though. Drop me a line with a link to your portfolio.
