“At around 340 pages the hardback is a massive tome and it’s solid black cover looks great up on the shelf with the Pathfinder rule books. The book starts with a number of short articles generally about dungeon design which are very useful and the main parts of the book itself are brilliant. I expect to get a lot of use out of this and can see myself buying the Urban and Wilderness books as well in the near future.”

System Neutral Edition

This edition of GM’s Miscellany: Dungeon Dressing presents all the great flavour and descriptions found in the Pathfinder edition of the book, but removes all the Pathfinder terminology. So, for example there is no mention of DCs, Knowledge checks, Perception checks and so on in this book! A few sections had to be removed wholesale. These includes the bonus treasure sections and the Fiendish Trap sections as these were so mechanics heavy.

We removed these details so the GM can easily, simply and quickly use the book in conjunction with virtually any fantasy roleplaying game.

  1. I bought this book because of Enzeitgeist’s review on it, and it lives up to every word of praise. I didn’t really know what to expect when I bought it, but when I received t was was very pleasantly surprised. It is packed with good material, and I find continuously myself discovering new bits to put into my campaigns. I absolutey love it, and my players have been commenting on how much better the game has become.

    • Thank you so much for these kind words, Bookrat. I’m delighted you’ve found the book so useful and that it’s enhanced your game! I hope it continues to give you many happy hours of gaming fun.

  2. How, exactly, does the system-neutral edition differ from the Pathfinder one? Would it be worth it for me to buy it if I already own the original version?

    • The System Neutral Edition has simply had the Pathfinder crunch removed so it doesn’t get in the way of the GM running his game. If you already own the Pathfinder version–and can look passed the DCs and so on–there is no real need to buy this edition.

      • I think you should write this in the description. I was confused when I got the heads up from rpgnow, and the link provided in said mail led to the PF version.

Other than that, I hope you continue providing system neutral supplements, and maybe add system specific crunch in pdf add ons.

        • I’m going to! I’ve had several questions about this today so I clearly need to update this page. Thanks very much for the suggestion!

  3. Hi would you mind letting me know which web
host you’re using? I’ve loaded your blog in 3 different browsers and I must say this blog loads a lot faster then most.
Can you recommend a good web hosting provider at a fair price?
Thanks a lot, I appreciate it!

  4. I just got the SNE edition from rpgnow (forgot it with my previous order) and has a black cover just like 1 or 2 other of your older SNE books. I am happy with this, but you may want to consider updating all your SNE books on rpgnow to yellow covers.
