Scions of Evil

Scions of EvilEvery hero needs an antihero, every defender of the light must have darkness to keep at bay and every pure-hearted paladin needs a vile, shadow-cloaked assassin to cut down. Scions of Evil presents scores of foes to bedevil your PCs and five sinister bands of black-hearted individuals.

As well as over 20 pages of new material including new villains and minions, Scions of Evil collates the NPCs and groups first presented in:

  • Antipaladins
  • Bandits of the Rampant Horror
  • Brethren of the Crimson Altar
  • Fellowship of the Blackened Oak
  • Kai’s Scoundrels
  • Thanegar’s Horde
  • Villains
  • Villains II
  • Villains III
  •  As well as presenting 20 new villains and many new minions!
  • 135 stat blocks (CR 1/4 – 23)!

Each villain benefits from an extensive write-up including notes on their background, personality, mannerisms and distinguishing marks as well as a fully detailed stat block, plot hooks and suggested encounter groups making it easy to insert the villain into almost any campaign.

Scions of Evil also includes a selection of minions including stalwart, black-hearted swordsmen; calculating, warrior monks; stealthy, amoral rogues and more powerful foes such as including noisome ghouls and a cunning gargoyle, charismatic quasit, bloodthirsty ogre-magi and malevolent invisible stalker!

Praise For Scions of Evil

“Then let me assure you that the new pieces of content, were they collected in a single pdf, would probably score 5 stars and perhaps even the seal of approval. Then, take a good look at the price. 14 bucks. For almost 200 pages of expertly done villains and characters, for 135 statblocks. That’s probably a bang-to-buck ratio that will be hard to beat indeed…On its own merit, this compilation can be considered a dark gem that will have many a GM out there cackle with glee. Since the new villains often deliver rather complex statblocks and cool ideas, I’ll settle for a final verdict of 5 stars + Endzeitgeist seal of approval. If you haven’t checked out what Raging Swan as to offer, get this selection of vileness!”

“This is the most enjoyable-to-read supplement I have ever encountered…Top notch, highly recommended, this is the best NPC book available for pathfinder in my opinion.”

Jennifer J (five stars)

“The layout is elegant, clean and easy on the eye, as always with Raging Swan Products. Most importantly, the content is pure gold. And that’s a lot of gold, because the book is 200 pages thick.”

–Angel Garcia (five stars)

“All in all I think that Scions of Evil is an excellent collection of evil NPCs, which is very useful for any Game Master.”

-Zoltán “Cain” Mészáros

“It’s hard to go wrong with ‘Scions of Evil’ when it comes to bang for one’s buck; the library of ready-to-use stat blocks alone are legion (135, for those keeping score) and the collected back-stories and pre-made organizations can suite a broad range of levels of play from low to high plateaus of adventuring. While there are certainly plenty of fairly straightforward foes throughout the product, the presented ‘persona’ villains are cleverly written and boast personality–and the methods and machinations these foils and antagonists could bring to a given campaign are well-realized and often inspiring. Adventure seeds, plot hooks, info-gathering lore and combat tactics all serve to add extra shine to the villains and personas–providing much flexibility for tailoring each into an existing story.”

–Gozuja (five stars)

“I received the book (which itself is good quality, a lot better than I expected for the price) and I was not disappointed. I was cynical and sure it would be filled with a handful of useful bits and bobs but instead I was greeted by a whole spectrum of engaging and believable characters to flesh out any campaign or adventure.”

–JahAbs84 (five stars)

“Information is well laid out and easy to access. I find that I don’t have to flip from this page to that too often as information is always at your finger tips for encounters or NPC / environment information. Stat blocks are clean and easy to read. This is an important feature for me and having such superb editing is a massive boon!”

–Pierre H (five stars)

“…this book can almost singlehandedly inspire an entire campaign or adventure!”

–LordofMuck (five stars)

“I personally have trouble coming up with villains who have a wide array of capabilities and tricks up their sleeve, along with interesting motivations to power their schemes. This book really makes this a lot more easy for me. I wish I’d picked it up earlier. Thanks, Raging Swan for another great work.”

  1. I want to say that I bought this a while back and Love It! Never have commented on it as I should have so here I am. Can’t wait to implement parts of it into my current campaign, have used some already elsewhere but there is so much in this supplement that you can get tons of uses from it. Love you guys

    • Thanks very much for the kind words. They are much appreciated and I’m delighted you’ve enjoyed the b0ok so much!

  2. This was one of the first Raging Swan products I’ve ever purchased, and I must say…wonderful collection of bad guys, especially the villains! I can see a large number of them fitting into my world. I really liked the descriptions explaining where the bad guys came from, what their motivations are and how they act. My only negative about Scions of Evil is that, after reading some of the entries, I wanted more. For example, there are only two assassins provided. Excellent assassins, but after reading their descriptions, I was left wanting more. I would greatly appreciate a Scions of Evil II, not that this one won’t keep me busy for a long while.

    • I’m delighted you enjoyed the book so much. I hope your players “enjoy” meeting as many villains as possible from the book as soon as possible!
